Meeting of the LitterDrone consortium with the project’s follow up committees

On the past 23rd and 24th of November the annual meeting of the LitterDrone consortium with its follow up committees.

The meeting, which took place in the premises of the Atlantic Islands of Galicia Maritime-Terrestrial National Park, gathered the representatives of the consortium with the members of the Advisory Committee on the afternoon of the 23rd. During the meeting the Committee was briefed on the project’s progress and its previously received feedback was adressed. After this, a lively debate was held, in which both the project’s future challenges as well as its many potential applications were discussed. The meeting counted on the participation of representatives of Spain’s Ministry for Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and the Environment (MAPAMA), of the Technological Centre for the Sea – CETMAR Foundation, of the European Environment Agency, of the Regional Activity Centre for Sustainable Consumption and Production (SCP/RAC), of the Centre for Energy, Environmental and Technological Research (CIEMAT) and the “España Digital” Foundation.

On the morning of the 24th the committee’s representatives were given a demonstration the equipment and the field work performed to date. The demonstration, intended originally to take place in the beach of Rodas, had to be transferred to the University of Vigo’s facilities due to adverse weather.

As the final event of the sessions, during the afternoon of the 24th the consortium met as well with representatives of the Local Stakeholder Group, with the presence of members of the Port Authority of Vigo, the Fisheries Local Action Group Ría de Vigo – A Guarda (GALP 7) and from Ecoembes, who were also briefed on the status of the project and with whom possible practical applications of the technology being developed were discussed.
